Have Yourself a Minimalist Christmas

Pregnancy couple goals

With Christmas fast approaching, I’ve been thinking a lot about what this season truly means to me. Last month, my book club read Have Yourself a Minimalist Christmas by Meg Nordmann (shout out to Francesca Amber for making the book come to life for me), and it really got me reflecting.

Christmas, for me, isn’t about extravagant gifts or adding more “stuff” to our lives. It’s about the moments—the ones that are sometimes chaotic, often imperfect, but always full of love. It’s about baking cookies with my three daughters, even though it inevitably turns into a flour-dusted mess and at least one of us has a meltdown. It’s about listening to Christmas songs in German, English, and Polish, creating a soundtrack that ties together all the cultures in our home. And it’s about those quiet evenings, snuggled up on the couch with my husband, feeling the warmth of the season.

The more I think about it, the clearer it becomes: I don’t want more things. I want more connection, more joy, and more time with the people I love the most.

Trying something new

This reflection is also what inspired me to create Growing Together—a collection of 40 prompts designed for expecting parents. It’s not just a product; it’s a tool to foster meaningful conversations and connection during pregnancy, a time when life can feel like it’s moving a million miles an hour.

Pregnancy is filled with so much excitement and change, but it’s also the perfect moment to pause and invest in your relationship. These prompts are ideal for cozy date nights—no big plans needed. Just you, your partner, and some uninterrupted time to talk about what really matters.

Some of my favorite prompts are the ones that encourage you to dream together, like:

  • What traditions from your own childhood would you like to carry forward?
  • What does “family” mean to you, and who feels like chosen family in your life?

These conversations aren’t just for now—they’re an investment in your communication, intimacy, and connection for the years to come. When you nurture your relationship as partners, you’re also creating a strong foundation for your future child.

So, if you’re looking for a thoughtful, meaningful gift this holiday season—whether for yourselves or a loved one who’s expecting—Growing Together might just be the perfect choice. It’s available on Amazon and in my Etsy shop.

✨ What about you? What makes the holidays special for you? What do you want more of this season, and what are you ready to let go of? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Wishing you a season filled with connection, joy, and love.
